Compensation

 So what do I get paid? That may seem like a touchy question to ask, but we know that you have bills to pay and part of figuring out your summer job is compensation. We think that you'll find that our salary is extremely competitive in comparison to other camps. You'll likely also find that other typical summer jobs will pay more, however a job at the local fast food restaurant or retail store won't be nearly as fun nor will it provide you with the core competencies that North Star will. Being a camp counselor is a great resume builder as well as a networking opportunity.

Base pay for a Senior Counselor is $1950 for the eight week summer. Trip Leader starting pay is $2450 and support staff are paid a weekly salary depending on position and experience. In addition to salary, all positions include room and board. North Star also covers all travel expenses, so if you drive to camp we pay for your gas and for those flying, we will book your airplane tickets.

Additionally, North Star offers several certification courses prior to the summer. We hold life guarding courses for any interested staff and a climbing certification for our climbing wall staff. Wilderness Trip Leaders are put through a Wilderness First Responder course. North Star covers the cost of these courses.
