Preparing for Camp

DSC_4278Whether you’re joining the North Star staff for the first time or you’re a seasoned camp veteran, there are a few things we’ll need from you before the summer. We also have some resources to help you prepare for the summer. Below you’ll find details of some forms we need every staff member to fill out. Of course, don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or requests!

The Preparing for Camp Guide should be read by all staff. This will provide you lots of info to help you get ready for the summer, let you know about the forms we need from you, and also details more about our policies.

Staff Forms
In order to get every staff member up to speed and ready for camp, there are a variety of forms and information we need everyone to fill out. It will help with planning arrival dates, certifications needed and more.

Each staff member has a personal login page through our CampInTouch system (where you signed your contract) and GoCo (once your contract has been signed you will receive an invite). GoCo is where most of the staff forms will live, however there are 3 health-related forms located on CampInTouch. Click “forgot password” or email dan@northstarcamp.com if you have any problems logging in to either site.

Below are items that will need your attention ahead of the summer:

  • The following forms are available via GoCo:
    • W-4
    • I-9
    • Personal Info
    • Travel
    • Certifications
    • Staff Spotlight
    • Drug & Alcohol Policy
    • Voluntary Disclosure
  • The following forms should be filled out via CampInTouch*.
    • Health History
    • Immunizations
    • Getting To Know You

*These forms need to be filled out and submitted by June 1st. Once you log into your CampInTouch page, click the “Forms and Documents” link to access these forms. In the Health History Form, there is a section where you can enter your immunization history. If you are unable to complete the form on your own, there is a separate immunizations form that you can take to your doctor to get completed and then either fax or scan/email it in.

Pre-Summer Certification Trainings/Videos

  • Lifeguard Training: All waterfront instructors (canoeing, fishing, sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding & windsurfing) and trip leaders are expected to be lifeguard trained. Staff needing these certifications will be sent info on how to register for the online content, which must be completed BEFORE you get to camp. This course includes CPR/First Aid/AED training. We will be holding lifeguard training courses on June 8-9 and June 10-11.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Training: All Senior Counselors and certain other program staff are expected to be CPR/First Aid/AED trained. Staff needing these certifications have been sent info on how to register for the online content, which must be completed BEFORE you get to camp.
  • Boater Safety Training: All fishing, waterski, sailing and windsurfing staff are expected to be boater safety trained. Staff needing these certifications have been sent info on how to register for the online content. Staff cannot drive camp’s motorboats without Boater Safety Training.

If you are not required to be a certified for any of the above trainings but wish to be certified, email us and we will get you enrolled.
