As we enter the start of our third week of instructional camp activities, it is truly remarkable to witness the growth and progress made by all the boys in our program. Each one of them has been presented with the opportunity to try new things and work their way into upper levels of their respective programs. For some boys, this week marked a first attempt at something that they had never tried before. Others continued to enhance their skills in the activities they were already proficient in.
We enjoyed a delightful picnic dinner, with juicy burgers and crispy tater tots under the warm sun. It was so great to see campers sitting with friends from different age groups and engaging in meaningful conversations with counselors from other cabins. Then there’s also time for things like tetherball, tush ball (roofball), leg wrestling and just hanging out. We started preparing for United Nations Day as well with team practices.
Between yesterday and today, the cabins of J-2, J-3, J-6, I-1, I-2 & I-3 all left on their respective cabin trips. We have an incredible group of Wilderness Trip Leaders who have our trip program running full steam ahead.
Yesterday, our Junior Village had an exciting opportunity for their Village Cruiser Day to head to Wild Mountain water park. They conquered their fears riding big water slides, the lazy river, alpine slides and more. They had an absolute blast. Back at camp, we had a tremendous Cruiser Day full of tubing, slip-and-sliding, Musky Fun, and much more. After roasting hot dogs for dinner over a fire, the night concluded with my personal favorite campfire dessert – Banana Boats. To make a Banana Boat, you slice a banana lengthwise, creating an opening similar to a hot dog bun. Then, you stuff it with chocolate chips and marshmallows, wrap it tightly in tin foil, and place it over the fire for a few minutes. The result is a warm, gooey, and chocolaty banana treat eaten straight from the peel. I highly recommend trying this at home!
