Staff Spotlight – Charlie Sterrett
Charlie Sterrett joins the North Star staff for his first summer. A native of Naperville, IL, Charlie has been fishing for pretty much his entire life. He learned to fish from his father and grandfather and ended up started the fishing teams at both his middle school and high school. He’s now on the bass fishing team at the University of Illinois, where he’s finishing up his sophomore year and majoring in political science. There he’s also the president of the Delta Chi fraternity.
Charlie is a water guy. His family has a wakeboard boat and he grew up on the water. He also played football throughout high school. At camp you’ll find Charlie instructing fishing, wakeboarding and football.

What is your dream job
– My dream job is being a professional fisherman. Tournament bass fishermen get to tour the country every year competing against the best in the business.
A secret hobby or skill that you have?
-I can wiggle my ears

– Danny Tanner (Full House)
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what are three things you’d bring?
-Fishing pole, fishing line, and my tacklebox
How did you learn about North Star and why did you apply?
-They reached out to my fraternity, and I met them on campus. It is a great opportunity to teach campers about the sport of fishing and all of the fun that goes with it.
Favorite Sports Teams
-Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs.
What noteworthy/random/menial jobs have you held?
-Exterior painter, Burger King employee.
What did you do last summer?
– I painted houses for College Works Painting, and fished collegiate bass tournaments
What, if any previous camp experiences have you had?
– I attended Loras Sports Camp when in high school.
