2018 Staff Spotlight – Kyle Salz
Kyle Salz returns to North Star for summer number 3. He is an alum of Western Illinois University where he graduated with a degree in Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration. Since the end of last summer, he has been working at YMCA Camp Seymour outside of Gig Harbor, Washington as a Naturalist. There he has been teaching Outdoor Environmental Education to mainly 5th and 6th graders since September. Classes that he teaches there include Marine Investigation, Squid Dissection, Reptiles, Albatross, Sustainable Systems, Forest Investigation, Canoeing, and Archery. Kyle is planning on returning here after camp for a second season.
While in Washington Kyle has been able to travel to some cool places like Mount Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, Oregon for a weekend, Vancouver to watch the Blackhawks, and a lot more other cool places.

– Bald Eagle so I can see everything from above and be able to fly anywhere I want.

– On top of the climbing wall

– Being a director at a camp or recreation facility.

– Outdoor Recreation classes

– Saving Private Ryan, Field of Dreams, and Sandlot

– Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears

– I like to go storm chasing while in the midwest.
